Will to Fight

Will to Fight is the lighting system that describes the level of Nazi occupation over Paris. When black and white the Nazi oppression is strongest. At full color that area of Paris has been "liberated" by the resistance. Originally I had designed 5 level of Will to Fight but we ended up only using 2, black and white and full color. The Saboteur was awarded best art direction by IGN in 2008 largely due to our unique lighting.

Will to Fight level 1. Black and white, endless rain, only night with only yellow lights of color. The morale of the people is at it's lowest

Will to Fight level 2. Monochromatic color, endless rain, only night. There is a faint level of resistance against the Nazi occupation.

Will to Fight level 3 . Monochromatic color, drizzling rain, night and overcast day with faint breaks of sunlight. There is a growing level of resistance against the Nazi occupation.

Will to Fight level 4. Full range of color, night and day cycles with gentle sunlight. The level of resistance against the Nazi occupation is strong.

Will to Fight level 5. Full range of color, night and day cycles with bright and dynamic lighting. The level of resistance against the Nazi occupation is at its strongest. You will see the french actively resisting the Nazi's.
